In the later 1960's in America, radio dj's were still primarily providing live services; physically changing records (in some cases tapes). Song durations generally being between three and five minutes, even bio breaks had to be considered and planned out. On US Thanksgiving, a lone spinner of the platters that matter would be voluntold to man the airwaves; generally, not being able to enjoy his Thanksgiving Feast. Legend has it that one Boston based DJ saw an opportunity and decided to play Arlo Guthrie's "Alice's Restaurant" at noon on Thanksgiving, (Duration: 18:34) thus allowing him the opportunity to eat. This has now become a Boston, Massachusetts and New England tradition. The playing of Alice's Restaurant at noon, on (US) Thanksgiving. Group W was founded a year ago. They have decided to hold their anniversary on (US) Thanksgiving. (The fact that it is a different date annually really fits us). The name of their Cabal is derived from the song "Alice's Restaurant" and they have requested any and all DJs within TSW to give a shout out to this tradition. GSP is hardly one to balk from a request - even one indirectly posed to the TSW community. It is a great sentiment and we support it.
